Michael Burchett
Bailli Provincial de Bali

Michael Burchett, a 30-year veteran of the hospitality industry, is responsible for all aspects of operations for Conrad Bali.

Michael spent the early part of his career in the UK, working with Rank Hotels, and in Fiji at the Regent Hotel. He subsequently spent 17 years with Regent International Hotels and Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts based in Sydney, Auckland, Shanghai, Chicago, Mumbai, Jakarta and Bali. He also worked in The Beaufort Hotel in Singapore and was Vice President Operations for the Royal Garden Resort in Thailand.

Michael’s professional affiliations include Chaine des Rotisseurs, and he is an active member of the Bali Hotels Association.

An Australian, Michael is married with two children and is a keen golfer.




Katrina Valkenburg

Katrina has dedicated the best part of her life to pursuing the finest food and wines the world has to offer.  Her greatest passion is the continuous journey to find harmonious marriages between the two and being able to share them with like-minded people in convivial environments. She is a wine consultant, educator, purveyor and writer and very happily lives and works in the hospitality and tourism sectors of Bali.




Klara Dallas
Chargee deMissions

Klara, half Italian and Czechs as her other half, was born in Prague and had spend her study years in the United States. Came to live in Bali five years ago, but has been a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs since the year 2000.

Her degree in Economics, Marketing and Statistics has supported her as a self employed entrepreneur in various industries, like fashion, real Estate Investment as well as Development.

Klara is proud to be appointed recently as Knight of Malta as a Minister to Asia by the Order of Hospitalier, speaks five languages fluently, and have fashion, sports and art as her hobby.

Klara s Italian father who was a producer of Olive oil, and appreciate his wines has given his legacy to Klara, as a woman who enjoy good food and good wines. The reason to join the Chaine des Rotisseurs.

Danielle Van Poppel

Dr. Danielle C,W,M Van Poppel, entrepreneur in Art, Architecture and Developments is based between Asia and Europe.

Danielle is an Art Historian and came to Asia in 1994 as a curator for the Singapore Art Museum to set up and open the most prestigious contemporary Art Museum for the Singapore Government.

She started her own company the Artambassador more than a decade ago and dedicates her time to biz affairs as well as charitable work as the co founder of The Bali I’m an Angel Foundation.

Multi lingual and well travelled, Danielle roams around the world in her spare time with her husband, enjoying a variety in Culture, Fashion and Food.



John Berndt
Vice-Conseiller Culinair

John Berndt, has 30 years of leadership experience in the Hospitality Tourism Industry growing luxury brands globally. Having held senior positions with Pan Pacific, Cipriani, Marco Polo, Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt and Starwood Hotels & Resort groups.

John grew up in New York City, and graduated from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. He is married to Shin, MiKyung and has two grown married daughters with families in USA.  He lectures at Universities, in Leadership seminars and Investment conferences.  John has served as an active member of The American Chamber of Commerce, Cornell Hotel Society, Skal and Bali wine club. He is a co founder and board member of the Canggu Rotary Club, and environmental Chairman for the Bali Hotel association.

John’s first experience with Chaîne des Rôtisseurs was hosting a Chinese New Year tribute dinner as Hyatt Cambridge F&B director in 1979. John has been a Maitre Hotelier and Maitre Restaurateur in United States; New York, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans and San Francisco.  A Maitre Hotelier in Hong Kong and as the National Officer Charge de Missions in South Korea. Presently, serving La Chaine de Rotisseur’s as Vice Conseiller Culinaire de Bali and is lining up event venues for 2012 and beyond.
